My speech buddy is a private speech and language therapy service based in East London / Essex. My speech buddy is an assessment-based service offering formal and informal assessment, advice and recommendations for children aged 2 – 11 years old who have speech, language and communication difficulties. We assess children who have difficulties with the following: 

  • Autistic spectrum conditions
  • Situational Mutism
  • Language delay / disorder
  • Speech sounds
  • Social communication difficulties

Aqila Khan

Director and Independent Speech and Language Therapist
BSc (Honours)

Aqila graduated from University College London (UCL) with a BSc in Human Communication Sciences in 2007. She has over 16 years’ experience working as a speech and language therapist, where she spent 11 years working for the NHS before becoming an independent therapist in 2019.

Aqila specialises in social communication, language development and children with Autism. She has worked in a variety of settings such as clinics, clients’ homes and primary and secondary schools.

Prior to becoming a speech and language therapist, Aqila gained valuable work experience in India, working with the speech and language therapy team and Audiology Service at the Christian Medical Centre Hospital in Vellore. Aqila had the incredible opportunity to observe a patient receiving a cochlear implant.
